2015 FUNDING PRIORITIES
People are surviving and thriving. Prevention is working. Remarkable new methods of detection and treatment come along every year. For patients and their families, the cancer care journey is far more promising – and though battling cancer is never easy, outcomes are far better than previous generations could have imagined.
Here in our local community the focus of this progress is Sutter Roseville Medical Center (SRMC), which has provided compassionate cancer care to residents of the South Placer region for more than half a century. Now we are poised to take a giant step forward with the development of the Sutter Roseville Cancer Center.
Sutter Roseville Medical Center will develop a three-story medical office building on the south side of the Secret Ravine Campus into a comprehensive Cancer Center – the largest of its kind in Placer County. A multitude of services currently dispersed around the campus will all come together in one convenient setting supported by the latest equipment and top-rated personnel. The building will house a spacious infusion center and infusion pharmacy; offices and exam rooms where our multidisciplinary cancer team will work together; and a full range of supportive services that make such a difference to the quality of care. Patients already come to Sutter Roseville from throughout the South Placer region for their cancer care. Now they will find everything they need under one roof.
Investing in advanced surgical equipment improves quality and clinical outcomes and ensures patients have access to the very best care locally. By combining technology and team work, our physicians and surgeons at Sutter Roseville Medical Center care for a full spectrum of surgery patients. When you support surgical services at Sutter Roseville Medical Center, you are making the most advanced technology and equipment available in our local community.
Our orthopedic surgeons take a collaborative approach to care by working in tandem with specialists from multiple disciplines. This results in better patient care and shorter recovery times for our patients. We are seeking funding to upgrade equipment in our operating rooms to support surgical services for knee and hip replacements, spine and scoliosis procedures, trauma orthopedics and general surgery. Dr. Rafael Neiman, trauma orthopedic surgeon at Sutter Roseville Medical Center, has said, “As technology advances, so does our ability to achieve successes not thought possible only a few decades ago.” The equipment will improve patient outcomes and increase the surgeon’s efficiency during surgery. This updated equipment will not only benefit orthopedic patients but also patients needing urological and abdominal procedures.
Through philanthropy, you have an opportunity to invest in the well-being of your community. As a not-for-profit organization, your contribution is critical. Your donation to Sutter Roseville Medical Center Foundation in support of surgical services provides state-of-the-art equipment for our talented team of surgeons.
People who have pets understand how animals can make their lives brighter by providing unconditional love and support. In fact, medical research has shown that animals positively affect human health. Simply petting a dog or cat can reduce stress and anxiety, improve vital signs, and reduce loneliness and depression.
Donor support allows patients and their families to be connected with trained therapy dogs to lift spirits and provide comfort. Our Pet therapy teams have been an integral part in the healing process for many of our patients. In addition to countless smiles, therapists see heart rates drop and blood pressure readings lower when their pets are in a patient’s room.
Therapeutic music improves health and enhances quality of life for patients. Benefits include decreased perceptions of pain, improved ability to handle stressors and reduction in depression. We seek funding for music therapists, who help create a tranquil and calming environment for patients and families. Music has an extraordinary power to bring comfort and peace. Recent clinical studies show that therapeutic music provides evidence-based beneficial effects on hospital patients.
At Sutter Roseville Medical Center, music therapists soothe patients at their bedsides with music, visiting many areas of the hospital, including the Sutter Rehabilitation Institute and the Infusion Center with the intention of bringing comfort to patients. Beyond the measurable numbers, our service adds comfort and dignity to a stressful time in people’s lives. We are often asked to provide healing music in the rooms of terminally ill patients to create an atmosphere of serenity and calm for the patient and the family members.
